Update: There was a minor glitch in the original 2.6.0 tarball. A new tarball has been uploaded that fixes this issue

It's worth noting that this is a fairly MAJOR release, in that it finally addresses the long time, even legendary, complaints about the GIMP's inscrutable user interface.

GIMP 2.6 is an important release from a development point of view. It features changes to the user interface addressing some often received complaints, and a tentative integration of GEGL, the graph based image processing library that will eventually bring high bit-depth and non-destructive editing to GIMP.

GIMP for Windows (version 2.6.1)

Note: this version of GIMP requires Windows 2000 or newer. It will not work on Windows 9x/ME and NT 4.
