Is Lastpass the best free alternative to Roboform?

Sounds like it's even better than Roboform.

I hate how Roboform treats it's customers like criminals by limiting installations. I'm checking Lastpass and it seems pretty good, actually.. Syncs between computers!

I appreciate your opinions..

Sorry StraitShoot but requiring Javascript would be a deal breaker for me.

My vote would still be for KeePass 1.x. (NOT 2.x!) KeePass is not as full featured as Roboform but it works without the need for scripting (scary!!!!!!!)

For the price, I don't think LastPass is THAT bad, javascript is javascript...

From a price perspective, I can't disagree.

But I'm definitely not pleased to see that Javascript is required. Javascript exploitations in browsers come up every once in a while and having my browser password manager also use Javascript could lead to yet unknown issues. Since I never consider myself lucky, if an exploit were to ever happen, users like me would be the ones to have that first problem. And an exploit problem with a password manager is where I came up with the term scary.

I have no proof of what I am theorizing but I feel it's a valid question/concern at this point. (FYI... The reason I discovered the Javascript message is because I surf with Firefox & NoScript.)

I've been using it and I love it. They have a portable desktop app if you go to the dl page.

I installed it on my Mac (as a FFx extension), imported ALL the Log-ins and passcards from RoboForm on my PC and it is working great!!!

It has basically all of Roboforms abilities included a very nice password generator.

I originally found this proggie on Kim Komando's website, »www.komando.com, can you believe it?

The more I use this the more I love it. It is installed on all my 'puters and I keep forgetting I don't have to remember LOL..!

Using Javascript to encrypt and decrypt your data locally is a security feature. You don't have to enable Javascript on LastPass.com to use our service generally, you only need to do it if you want to use your account online where you don't have the plugins installed.

The core idea behind LastPass is that your data is encrypted and decrypted locally, even on the website. To do this without some kind of scripting language is impossible without actually reducing your security, because that would require the data to be decrypted on LastPass servers (which we won't do).

Have you tried KeePass Password Safe?
Look at v.1.x as HA Nut See Profile has suggested. It's free and works very well.

Keep it simple, it'll become complex by itself...
