It would be nice to see Nextel exist as a competitor to Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Alltel once again. More competition will help to keep prices in check.
Nexhell is NOT a cell phone company and is NOT a competitor in the truest sense to VZW etc..

The PRIMARY users of the iDEN systems are users who need PTT aka DirectConnect aka walkie-talkie.

Its just a secondary function that iDEN systems can make phone calls in the terms of iDEN systems this is an interconnect.

iDEN is a RADIO system that has more in common with trunked radio systems most commonly used with public safety than a phone system.

The data features of iDEN could be richer, but for probably 90% of the users PTT and the slow data are fine.

Other than the Boost side of the things the primary users are business or public safety, and their #1 use is PTT.

SouthernLinc and nexhell are in a separate marketplace and attempting for either of them to compete against VZW et al as a cell phone provider when its not their forte doesn't help them, it only helps VZW.....

The purchase by sprint made no sense to start, but some times you have to learn the hard way.

Plus the $BILLION's in re-banding didn't help things either, but thats a whole different topic.
