Re: nextel off load

If people all over the country had problems after Sprint took them over and the problem happened right away, how in the world could Sprint create such a nationwide problem within a matter of weeks? The truth is that Nextel was near capacity and that's what caused their problems.

As for the FCC, they told Nextel that they had to change the frequency they were using because it interfered with emergency services. As a part of the merger, they made Sprint agree to that. They already ruled that Nextel had to do that before the merger, which more than likely would have bankrupted them since that means they would have had to redo their entire network.

So one way or another, Nextel was going downhill, whether or not Nextel-lovers wanted to admit it or not. You can blame Sprint if you want and if it makes you feel better, but the facts prove otherwise.

Eitherway, I'll admit that I've been a fan of Sprint for a long time. I've had great service with them and I recommend them to lots of people. I warn them about customer service first because that is definitely a problem, but in the 8 years I had them I've rarely had a problem that customer service couldn't fix, and I've rarely had to call them for problems.

I've since switched to AT&T so I'm in no way a fanboy, I just know what the facts point to.

I just love it when people say Sprint ruined Nextel. Nextel was at or near capacity when the merger happened. Once that happens, there's nowhere for the carrier to go except backwards. They were forced to change some of their technology due to the FCC and that would have been enough to put them under.

Sure the merger was horrible and didn't go smoothly at all, but Sprint didn't ruin Nextel, Nextel ruined Nextel before the merger even happened. Nextel saw it coming and they wanted to get out, that's why the started talking about mergers.
Please don't disturb the Nextelians with facts and common sense.
i haven't seen not one fact yet,and as for common sense i switched to verizon right after the takeover common sense is that you use a service that works not one that doesn't.it don't take a brain surgeon to realize if it worked before the takeover, and don't after takeover whose the blame it surely is not nextel is it,and like i said i use verizon and love it.i could care less if they shut down nextel or not
