You are very confused here. There is NO wifi repeater that would work with Xohm, because Xohm operates on LICENSED spectrum (NOT 900, 2.4, 5.8). Xohm is not wifi, it is WiMax on licensed spectrum. Again, because Xohm operates on it's own LICENSED spectrum, there is no way you could get interference from ANY cordless phone or router, because they operate on UNLICENSED spectrum. Xohm operates in the 2.5 Ghz band. The RSSI and CINR values give you a general idea of how good your network connection is. The higher the numbers, the better. the reset button is to reset the modem to factory default settings, i was refering to a button that simple sends it into a power cycle via the web panel. I'm less then 200 yards from the coverage area. The coverage area is literally on the other side of the street. my connection drops constantly. the modem will cycle through various stages, such as regist, ho_rang, ranging, dl_sync. alot of times when it says "operational" it will either disconnect like 3 seconds later or will have either no ip listed or a ip address of 0.0.0.0 which both cases as unuseable.

I have the 80 dollar modem by ZyXEL - MAX-206M2. The firmware on it is rather poor. The problem with the ip being 0.0.0.0 is caused partly by the poor firmware. A simple way of remiding this would be to have a simple reset button on the web panel for the modem. The dhcp function is also rather poor. Example I hooked my xbox 360 and my laptop to the modem and it gave both devices the same internal ip which caused a network conflict. -.- I had to manual go in and change the ip address on my laptop just to connect because of that.

If you have a wireless router, don't put it anywhere near the modem. the signals will conflict and cause your modem to become more unstable then it is naturally. I reached speeds up to 3 megabytes download and 1.2 megbyte upload a second. But on average i get only 300kb download and 75kb upload per second. not to mention its difficult to establish or maintain a connection.

The modem itself also has some design flaws with it. Example would be it only houses 2 ethernet ports that operate at 10/100mbps. This is fine for the most part however can mess with your network if you have things set up a certain way. My router bases its speed on the speed of the incoming connection so when i hooked up the 10/100 port it set my network to run within 10/100 mbps instead of the gigabyit it used before. -.-

The modem can overheat. the heat mainly generates at the base of the modem so I wouldn't advise keeping this on for 24/7. I made a custom cooling pad using 1 80mm fan to help it. If you plan on using this as a replacement for your current service I'd think again. for roughly 10 dollars more I could get 15 meg download and 5 meg upload from broadstreak but the owners of the house refuse to let the installation guy in -.- .

The modems have a larger coverage area then the useb and card adapters. Also theres rumors going around about different businesses offering wimax service .> I'm a network major and I know that no wireless company would exclude 30 miles from their coverage map if it can get a connection. Customer support via email(they can email you instead of calling you, just write that you'd rather be emailed instead of called and put your email in the thing) although the email support is not listed it is slow. Also the phone support is lacking as mentioned above. They cannot give you your pin id even if you verified yourself already. several of the techs will say you cannot make a payment over the phone and if you argue with them over it they will put you on hold for about 5 minutes, get their supervisors and find they are wrong. . I talked to roughly 10 tech people of which 6 told me I cannot make a payment over the phone.

As to the temperature of the USB Modem. Yes, it gets hot. I have felt hotter using many transmitter type PC cards and USB devices. I personally am not concerned, at this time. I will watch for notices and updates, but I would not buy it due to the heat. I have just too many devices where USB is the ticket and PC will not work. I'm pretty sure you can get away with just using one of those ports for an antenna without waiting.

Service has been working great on a network (northern burbs of D/FW) that doesn't officially exist. My only "complaint" (I can't really complain, since I'm not supported or launched) is that every day at 7-7:30pm the service dies for 20-60 minutes. Beyond that, life is great. I get ~2.2mbps uploads, ~4.3mbps downloads and much lower latency than my apartment complex's vastly over-sold connection.

It goes out a 6pm on the dot here in Chicago, at least in Burr Ridge.

I am amazed right now, This hasn't worked at ALL here at my house and out driving around my area I could get it connected for a minute or two and it was pulling 1000kb/s down and like 100kb/s up, very pitiful. Anyways, I left the card in laptop when I got home and it was connected!

Service has been working great on a network (northern burbs of D/FW) that doesn't officially exist. My only "complaint" (I can't really complain, since I'm not supported or launched) is that every day at 7-7:30pm the service dies for 20-60 minutes. Beyond that, life is great. And the Java speed tests here might give a more accurate result on your uploads cuz they sure are fast! :o

Use command prompt to ping Google (use the "-t" switch to make it repeat forever...then use "control-c" to end it). Let it run for a bit, and then let us know what you come up with.
