Re: Newbie Question: Low connect rate Connect rate

I assume you're using an ADSL service?

Well the detected line rate should be at 5mbps. So ask your ISP to check on that. DSL service is greatly affected by telephone line quality/noise, etc...

5mbps translates to about 640KB/Sec. That means your connection technically can handle up to that amount of bandwidth. However the download speed still depends on the internet and the destination server/host.

You're actually buying a bandwidth of 5mbps from your location to your ISP, everything after that to the Internet is shared. The only way to test if you're getting the 5mbps is to download a file from within the ISP's network/backbone.

Hope the above info helps.

Call FPT tech support up and complaint. I think they assigned you the wrong adsl package (my guess is MegaMe instead of MegaYou). From what I know, you should be prepared for lies and blames from FPT tech support. Their support is the worst compare to all Vietnam ISPs. Good luck.

Hi guys i'm pretty new to this forum, i just got broadband connected a couple of days ago so i am not an expert by any means.
I signed up for a 5.12Mbit connecton in Vietnam (using FPT telecom) but when i look at my Zyxel router status page to connect rate is only 3,072Kbs. Anyone know why this is? Also the download rates are no where near 5,120, i get around 40Kbps during daytime and 200kbps (max) at night. Done the speed test (to california) and i get about 350kbps.
Thanks for any help guys
