| [TWC] Help with Analog Antenna
As some of you may know, Our local CBS station (ch.4) is no longer being carried by TW. I had to purchase an Antenna to pick up the over-the-air signal so I can watch the Buffalo Bills tomorrow.
TW replaced our local CBS station with CBS Sports.
When I connect the Antenna and program the stations, Analog Ch.4 comes in, but it's still CBS sports and not the actual local CBS station.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I'll connect the Antenna via coax directly into the Antenna input on my TV.
Thanks! |

| Nope. I have the antenna connected directly into the antenna input on my TV.
My digital cable box is connected to the S-Video Input.
I may get an A/B switch later though..maybe next week, or I may just switch to DirectTV. Depends how fed up I get |

| Is your TV a HDTV or does it have a digital tuner in it?
If so you'll need to go into the menu options, select antenna and do a scan, it should pick up 4 and 4.1 if antenna. You Shouldn't see cbs sports ch4 unless your setup is not as simple as you say. |

| I think I figured it out. I'm embarrassed to say that I think our local Ch 4 was showing the same program as CBS sports.
I just turned the TV on again and compared the two stations again and now they are showing different shows.
My mistake.
Thanks for all the replies. |

Lin TV has simply gotten greedy and wants people to pay extra for their channels (despite the fact that you can pick it up over the air for free).
When you pay for cable, you aren't paying for the channels (except for premiums). You are paying for carriage of those channels; for Time Warner to deliver those channels into your home through their cable network.
All TWC is doing is providing another path for Lin TV's free over the air signals to reach your home; a more reliable path.
Switching to DirectTV only legitimizes such behavior on the part of greedy television executives. The same thing happened to my local TWC with ABC and Disney; they wanted the cable company to pay for the Disney Channel so that every standard cable subscriber received it and pulled ABC off the air after TWC refused. In the end, TWC caved in and our cable bills went up because of media executive blackmail.
Imagine if every channel on cable TV tried to get a cut of the monthly fee. If every channel wanted $1 a month, you'd be paying well over $200 for digital cable service. LinTV needs to be boycotted, not encouraged. Because when they get done with cable, they'll go after satellite. |

| "There was no removal of the CBS station from Time Warner in Buffalo. This is merely a malicious rumour from the infidels at DSL Reports, who are committing suicide in their tanks as we speak. May their stomachs roast in Hell". |
