1 edit | Central PA Rate increase notice
New prices effective November 2008 billing statement.
What's mentioned here is what's changing. If I omitted it, it is the same. It it says (legacy), it's not available for a new subscription. A/O means Additional Outlet. I won't go into the one time service charges. |

@comcast.net | reply to cypherstream I don't get the $2 bump for DVR service,I still have the same box.If I got a newer more capable box I might go along with it but they are already hitting me with programming cost increases. |

Me neither. It's the same crappy guide. You still can't program from the internet, you still can't move content to your PC or to a standard box in another room. It's the same box models since 7/07. I don't think that one is warranted at all. |

1 edit | reply to cypherstream Oh and you can't get The Movie Channel with Showtime anymore. Who want's to pay $20.95 for two friggen SD channels (TMC and TMCXtra). There's nothing special about them. I think Comcast as large as they are, is trying to phase out TMC or bankrupt them. |

1 edit | Project Canoe, Addressable advertising... »Comcast Tries Addressable Advertising Pilot in Baltimore
Priorities are indeed a little backwards. #1 should be 1 GHz upgrades, SDV installations and HD Channel expantion #2 should be bringing the user interface into the 21st century. MR-DVR, Remote DVR Scheduling, etc..
Then maybe think about the extra stuff like advertising. They had their focus on CDV for so long that now the video services and system architectures suffer. When will they finally focus on their primary product? |

Market pricing. FIOS is charging $15.99 for a DVR - I would expect prices to converge in competitive and non-competitive markets. |

| reply to cypherstream In some markets, payments made through the automated system will now incur at $2 dollar surcharge. It's gotten to a point where you have to PAY to PAY your bill. Online payments as well as mail in payments do not incur a charge, however. -- CheckSite.us | YourIP.US |

Although there's some in Harrisburg. I guess since were all under the same umbrella "Central PA Region", even us without fios available pay the market prices. |

1 edit | reply to cypherstream Well ATT is also Hinting of some price increase for their UV. In recent survey, att ask user who subscribe to their U-400 tier, if they would rather pay $3 more for U-400 or pay another $10 more U-400 and plus get all 15 Voom HD Channels.
At least for now their THDVR service still free for all subscribers (except for U-100). Plus Since I was early Adopter when I first sign up with ATT UV, I still receive the two Free STB offer!! |

1 edit | Well that was nice of AT&T to have a survey to see what was more important, price or quantity. I wish Comcast would be more of a Democracy and hold public surveys from time to time. Questions about the programming, operation of their features, and what would customers like to see out of the service. Instead of Comcast thinking what best for us, let us consumers have a say in what's best for us. Let's put an end to the Comcast Dictatorship. |

| reply to cypherstream We just got our rate increase notice in this month's bill. This will be our 3rd rate increase since Comcast took over Suscom and Time Warner systems in our area in April 2006.
Digital Preferred going from $68.20 to $71.90. Internet and Phone no price change. HD/DVR increasing from $13.95 to $15.95.
On the positive side, we are FINALLY receiving Comcast OnDemand content as well as Fox News HD, Starz HD, FX HD, and Speed HD. |

| reply to cypherstream I am channeling the internet spirit of markofmayhem to talk about how this is a required and acceptable increase. We should be glad Comcast isn't raising the rates $20 a month. Comcast is doing everything it CAN to improve our service. Also, Iraq is NOT being invaded by the US, gas prices are cheaper--you're just wearing higher prescription glasses, and the world is flat.

I jumped to U-verse and they have a $99 ($109 if you want HD) package that has ALL premium channels (except for like Playboy, right?) -- how does Comcast honestly expect to compete with those prices? I understand that what you're paying is not what we're paying here, but still, that's pretty damn ridiculous. |

| You got me confused with someone else, bud. Provide a quote where I have ever backed Comcast's increase without mentioning that YOUR decision as a consumer to "vote with your wallet" isn't the biggest affirmation to Comcast to continue raising prices. I have championed time and time again that Comcast WILL continue to increase ALL of our bills until more of us SWITCH to a competitor that is actually lower in price (few exist). Every time you pay Comcast you not only agree to the increase, you promote the next increase. Then, rationally, I also try to explain how Comcast is a middle-man squeezed by those who truly are greedy (Mickey comes to mind) and those who want it all for free. Do you still choose to pay Comcast Rickz0rz? Thanks for the increase YOU caused, kid. |

| reply to cypherstream hello what about those of us who can't switch without moving?? Satellite is nice but alot of us still need comcast because either a: they provide locals and there aren't any locals on dbs , b: we can't get satellite where we live (trees or rules), c: there are channels that aren't available on satellite that cable has (csn philly, local access, public access, community bulletin boards). So as you can see alot of us can't vote with our wallets because cable companies have lots of features that satellite doesn't and probably won't have ever. |

That reply was totally sarcastic. I only dropped your name because you tend to lean towards Comcast's policies. I thought the picture of the Iraqi Information Minister would clarify this...
Anywho, I switched from Comcast. I mentioned in other threads that a lot of people around where I live also switched from Comcast to at&t. In fact, when I took my equipment back the line was out the door for people returning equipment and stuff. Switching isn't an option everywhere, since at&t's services don't extend everywhere people would like, and the only other cable competitor over here is WOW! and they are not expanding, and Comcast knows this.
It's also totally possible I am mistaking your leanings with bicker. Either way, no harm no foul no mean intentions!! |

| reply to cypherstream wow. that's quite a list. it would be immensely easier to make informed choices IF comcast had info out there (like the satellite guys) showing exactly what channels you do get in each package. i have tried repeatedly to use comcast's channel guide to see what i get but it is never, ever up-to-date. the poster from the iron city who noted that each time you pay the ccast bill you tacitly affirm their prices is absolutely right. i can see that comcast is slowly but very surely pushing us right to direct tv. as they say, i'll vote with my feet. bub |
