[DW7000] 10.4KB Download rate?

My connection went down a bit after midnight last night. (The solar thingy maybe...)

Today my download speeds are about 10.4/10.5 kb sec...all day. Same via HTTP downloads (e.g. Firefox) and FTP (Firezilla)

Any clues?

Thanks,

Julie

Has nothing to do with a solar outage. Are you subject to the FAP?

Julie

@direcpc.com

Nope, no FAP, and meant to say that. (lol - I'm trying to work and given these reduced download rates it's been hard, sorry - should have included that info, but I'm sorta frantic here...)

It was just that last night (and all the nights prior, assuming a decent signal) I could get 90KB (higher in the middle of the night.)

Today, everything is 10.4k. No fap. Weather is clear. (Got better dl speeds during the thunderstorm yesterday - lol.

Sorta looks like you have been hit with the mysterious throttling. But have you recycled the modem thats the first thing to try.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Weirdly, in the last 24 hours we've used 105mb, when under our plan, we're allowed 105mb.

It's gotta be throttling of some sort, though, because it is absolutely nailed at 10.4-10.5KBps, regardless of what I do, how fast the site or server is, etc.

I'm on the phone with tech support now (ack - like they can actually DO anything?). My only point in calling tech support was that if this is a pervasive problem, the more reports, the sooner they will fix it.

I called last night at about 1am because my system light was out on reboot. Been downhill since then - lol.

Ah, yes, Hughes "technical support".

"Someone will call you back within 1-2 business days."

I tried to explain to him that even though he doesn't mean to, he's lying his butt off, because in almost six years with Hughes, ONCE when Level I said the upper level support would be calling back, they actually called back. Once out of more than a dozen times.

I can't work like this. Wish there was some way to sue these jerks for the business I'm losing because of this.

(lol I have a couple of lawyer relatives...wonder if we could just screw with them? Would almost be worth the filing fees - lol - relatives would probably give up in disgust, though :P.)

And yes, btw, recycling is always my first try.

So after talking to Hughes, my dl speed jumped up to about 32Kbps (275kpbs, from 84kbps). I posted something to that effect on this forum, but it apparently disappeared.

Afterward, I shut everything down and brought it back up again...guess what? Back to 11Kbsp.

I am trying to figure out a way to record these conversations - lol. I live off grid, so have been looking for a computer-based solution. (I'd tell 'em I was recording.) Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Julie

Wow, I AM out of it. Under our plan, we are allowed 375mb. Sheesh. Sorry.

I had something very similar happen a couple of weeks ago. I was more like 50kps at my worst. But after I went on this forum and complained my speeds miraculously improved back to what I had before sometimes even better.
