Hello,
I'm looking for a fairly cheap laptop for my dad. He mainly just wants it for when he is on the road to surf the net and load a GPS app. on it.
If anyone has a laptop they are looking to get rid of in the $200-250 range that is working please let me know. I'm not looking for something new like I said he just wanted to be able to surf and load the GPS app. on it.

| Does it have to have decent battery life? If not I have a Toshiba A10 with Windows XP Pro + SP3 if you are interested. 512MB Memory and what ever open source apps you want installed (or a clean install).
I'll even throw in Acronis 8 (free edition) and a restore disk.

| About 1 hr or so on full charge. Remember that the laptop was made in 2003 (so 5 years does a number on most batteries). Machine is in solid working condition, keyboard is virtually new and the plastic does not look worn down.
I can get some pictures up for you if you want.

I'm currently typing this from the laptop so here are a few printscreens of the specs.
Laptop does not come with a wireless card if that is a deal breaker for you, but you can easily install a mini pci card in it (it comes with the ability).
I'm also currently charging the battery and it's at 12% (it has sat for awhile). Let me get it to full charge and give you an estimate on total battery life.

$55 for a battery and not a bad price for one, they want over a $100 for my wifes battery.

i have a compaq laptop
i might be selling it's a Pentium-M Celeron 1.73GHz 533FSB Core solo(Yonah based.)
it will blow that Pentium 4 away
2GB RAM
15.4" wide
80 gb HDD i think
it has 2 batterys that hold 2 hours each (Asis batterys) i will reinstall vista basic
(i can get the drivers for you if you have your own Xp disk and key)
one butten needs to be replaced that should only cost a few $ |

| Well I charged the battery all night and I am running Battery Mon on it currently.
It appers that the wife may have replaced the battery recently with a new one, because I am showing almost 2 hours on full charge with the LCD screen all the way up.
   
Let me run the laptop down on battery from 100% to 0% and give you a better estimate on total battery time for you.
*edit* look at the last photo, it ran for over 1 hour before the battery peaked out, showing that about 1/2 the battery life is left (over 1 hour + running)
I can have it shipped for $225.00 which includes insurance from UPS and what ever OS you choose.

SSX4life - I have another one that I'm looking into right now that seems to fit the best for what my dad wants to use. If for any reason this one does not go through yours will be next to be considered.
