[E-Mail] RCN limiting outgoing emails

My husband and I have personal address lists, ranging from 30 to 50 people, to whom we send or forward emails via Eudora (we have Verizon DSL in NYS). Routinely we get this message: SMTP says:too many recipients (or too many recipient this hour). We do not send out spam or hundreds of emails. This morning my husband sent an email to 50 people which came back with this message plus a red X. Since SMTP server refers to RCN. it is likely them or an intermediate server. They have repeated denied this. What legal recourse or government oversight do we have to solve this problem? This is a restriction on our rights and outrageous. I cannot reach the RCN legal office nor can I send out any emails at this moment. Please advise!

Something here doesn't add up.

You have Verizon DSL? They're the ones who would control your outgoing email use. 30-50 one time a day seems low to trigger spam alerts.

If you're getting a message from an RCN server, then either you've misconfigured your outgoing mail server to use RCN, and why should they do anything for you if they don't have your service, or someone on your email list uses RCN and *their* server is bouncing it back to you. If that's the case, probably everyone else is getting the email. Just send to that person separately, since RCN may have an inbound spam filter catching it.

BTW, even if RCN were your ISP and doing this, it's not "violating your rights". Your rights are defined by the contract you sign with them. If you don't like those terms, switch providers.
