Verizon has a great network, but a sucky selection of phones.

No, they have a large selection of phones. Just not the iPhone, which has become a fashion statement by those who have to have the "IN Thing" like all their friends.
You forgot how Verizon loves to take feature rich phones and turn off half the cool things.
They can't do that to PDA style phones. On those they disable GPS so you have to use their product, but that's it. -- Linux Haters Unite!
