Re: How many

According to the store rep, you only have 14 days to return the iPhone. And even then there is a 10% restock fee. However, a quick look at AT&T's site says the same 30 day trial policy applies to the iPhone but there is still a 10% restock fee.

I switched from VZW to AT&T for the iPhone. I regretted the decision from the moment I ported my number. So, why didn't I switch back? Well, for all it's shortcomings the iPhone is still pretty cool. Silly reason? Yeah, but here's the other thing.

Right now I think the iPhone is still one of the best phones currently on the market. And I've been with VZW for 10 years, but VZW doesn't have the it factor with any of their phones. Storm might change that, but it's not out yet.

But here's the other thing. VZW has already announced that they will be going with LTE for the 4G network. As far as I know there are no current phones in VZW (or anyone else's) that will work on LTE right now. So, no matter what in a couple of years if you want to take advantage of LTE you'll need to get a new phone. So, in the meantime I might was well play with the iPhone and then see what VZW has to offer by 2010.

And while I understand and appreciate the cool factor of the iPhone, for me job 1 for a phone is PHONE CALLS.

It can do all kinds of cool stuff, but if the calls don't go through, it's kind of a moot point.....

Pre-cisely!

Going back to when they were Bell Atlantic Mobile, VZW has been stressing (in their ads) the network behind the phones. Meanwhile, what is AT&T Mobility primarily stressing in their ads? Surprisingly, not their domestic coverage, but their overseas coverage (all of which requires roaming, and paying roaming charges). For most cell phone users (even those that travel), unless you travel overseas greater than fifty percent of the time, overseas coverage means diddly-squit. It's domestic coverage (especially without paying roaming fees) that is of primary importance. Cool features on a phone are only important if I can (or will) use them; otherwise, they are largely pointless.
