| [TWC] WOH Speed Boost, NOT
Just ran a speed test and as usual the evening cable speed is just outstanding.
Download Speed: 845 kbps (105.6 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 462 kbps (57.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Advertised speed is 7M/512k
When does the Speed boost kick in? )
Things were going pretty good in WOH for a while but looks like the good times are over again. |

| Speedboost is for the Turbo tier only.
As for your speeds, what speed test site did you use?

| reply to Wevis I was using the same speed test site that I use during the day. Right now I am getting 6.9M d/l but tonight it may drop again to what I was getting last night.
As for Speed Boost, I understand what it is, I was just being sarcastic and also a little angry, because the same slow down has returned. I hope only for a short time. Going back to dialup speeds at night really does suck. |

| During the early evening speeds do slow down as the nodes get congested with kids getting online to do whatever.
After 10 - 11pm things improve again. This is something I just adjust and get used to.
If you are falling that far down on your speeds, I'd raise some issue with TWC about a possible over-sold node in your area. -- DIRECTOR OF THE CRUNCHENSTEIN ASSOCIATION AND HOST OF CRUNCHENSTEIN #2 |

| reply to Wevis How accurate are these test I just wonder. I just had a drop replaced to the house thanks to the squirrels, signals had went back to normal. Now they are climbing again...
But with a test result like the following, I'm gonna hold off complaining.

You might want to read your disclaimer at the bottom of the email CJ..

| Then I must just be an exception to the rule. I routinely see a big boost when initiating a download of something that lasts for a while.
I don't trust those speedtest sites in the least bit. I usually do an FTP transfer to test my speed.
Even if I don't have speedboost, I'm not going to complain about what I get at the moment. |

| reply to Wevis Hi Wevis,
I had the same results when I first upgraded to RR Turbo through Oceanic TWC Hilo Hawaii (my location, Pahoa).
I reported it twice over several months which resulted in house visits. Then I was given the name of a top tier manager. I sent him the logs of all the DSL speed tests I had done for nine months (and for four other speed test utilities). He looked into the matter and then called and refunded me all my Turbo premiums and said I could keep Turbo but only start paying again when they get it up to acceptable speeds. Very fair. Bottom linestart documenting now.

| reply to CJ As of 18 Oct 08, I'm getting over 25Mbps down/730Kbps Up on the advertised 15Mbps RoadRunner Turbo here in Dayton, OH area. Haven't heard a peep out of Time Warner about an increase. I guess they just bump things up every so often. I'm just a bit shocked how much though. Two weeks ago I noticed it at 20Mbps and thought it was a fluke. I think this is here to stay and I'm not telling....
