| Security tips and advices for Mac OS X 10.5.5?
Hi all.
I am helping a client (not a computer expert, and has a bad habit of getting malwares even if he is taught [he will never learn]) to set up his new MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.5.5. I installed the latest TrueCrypt for file encryptions. I believe I have the default internal firewall set up (will have to test it with nmap/portscan later). I read that ClamAV is a good freebie for Mac OS X. Is there something better? I know Mac OS X is not 100% immuned to security issues, virus, macro virus, hacks, etc. Mac OS X is kept updated all as well. Default user account will be using "limited" and not administrator.
Thank you in advance. -- Ant @ »antfarm.ma.cx and »aqfl.net. Please do not IM/e-mail me for technical support. Use the forum! Disclaimer: The views expressed in this posting are mine, and do not necessarily reflect the views of my employer |

@comcast.net | reply to antdude Do not install Norton antivirus on a Mac running OS-X. It will cause more grief than the malware it supposed to protect you from. |

| ClamAV is used for scanning for windows virii (in case you're sharing with windows users, in which case they should have their own scanner installed), much like most if not all anti-virus aimed at 'nix O/S'. |

Ah, well this client will be sharing Windows/MS files like Office files, e-mails, etc. Also a lot of asian communications. -- Ant @ »antfarm.ma.cx and »aqfl.net.
