Each color was a different cable company at 1 point lol Cablevision got screwed by offering to take the worst areas of NYC (Brooklyn/Bronx) at that time during outer borough franchise negotiations in the late 1970s/early 1980s thinking the city would give them better areas like Queens or Staten Island or West Brooklyn as a reward, turns out the city didn't, and the city held them to their previous statement.

Manhattan was franchised and wired decades before the outer boroughs. Cable TV in the outer boroughs was something like FIOS redlineing today, or rural broadband saga today.

Riverdale Bronx was served by Paragon, (hey, its rich) and got wired at the same time as Manhattan I believe. I wonder why/what happened to get that transfered to Cablevision. I'm a work-at-home web developer and work for a film/media company, so I want the best bandwidth I can get.

I've been surprised to discover from poking around that neither OptimumOnline nor VerizonFOIS (which I understand to be my two fastest options) are not available in Greenpoint. I'll be living off Eckford St, zip 11222.

Can anyone give me any ISP suggestions or let me know if I'm missing something?
