What's the BEST mobile broadband company?

Hi,

This is my first post to this Forum, so I hope I'm asking my question in the right place.

I'll be doing some traveling on the East Coast (Pennsylvania, New Jersey) for two weeks, and I'd like to have mobile wireless broadband access.

What "reliable" companies offer this service?

I only need to purchase this mobile wireless service for a two week period (or for the month, if that's a better option).

Any suggestions or links to another appropiate Forum or web site would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

As far as I know Verizon is what you are looking for . They are now offering month to month contract. Pick up a Verizon EVDO Rev. A device on Ebay and go to Verizon and activate under the new month to month plan.Just make sure of three things when purchasing a used EVDO device on EBAY
1) Make sure ESN is Clean - ( stolen cards or cards from delinquent accounts cannot be activated)
2)Make sure card was issued originally by carrier you want to activate with . Unlike phones carriers will not activate foreign ESN's
3)Make sure the form factor you buy will work with your laptop i.e. USB , Express Card or PCMCIA Card

I agree, Verizon has a much better footprint out East, I have both a Verizon (no contract pay per day), and Sprint (Milllenicom Monthly Plan) and where Sprint doesn't have EVDO, Verizon seems to. (And vice versa at times)

Does Verizon do much to enforce the 5 gig a month limit?

After being down for a week and a half due to a tower outage with Sprint/Millenicom, I'm wondering if they'll ever get me back up and running.

Do you have Alltel in your area? No cap with them at this time

They have not bought them yet . Pending FCC and DOJ approval .Who knows what roadblocks that could go up. Besides that is not the point of my question . The point I was making was that Alltel has unlimited EVDO . Verizon has a cap . Alltel has service in Most of Ohio where the poster was from that is why I asked the question

Do you have to sign any contract with that service? If you don't that definitely sounds like the way to go . The OP did not want to get locked into any contract.
