| The moon mission was drastically easier than this. There was only one financial source to get our butts to the moon and it was unlimited in resources: the tax-payer. There was only one vendor: NASA. SDV is now up to five competing vendors to get the "big" contract. There are also six major MSO's. Four of the six are actively testing SDV, two of which entered major roll-outs a while back. The remaining two are desperately trying to find a cheaper contract and a vendor that will support less than 750mhz systems without the cost of 1ghz support. Cox and Time Warner found a good vendor for their needs, Comcast is still searching. |

| reply to mulligan Don't they want to keep Motorola's SDV solution in place since the vast majority of systems run on Motorola based headends?
Why not just put the Cisco based solution in the few headends that run the Cisco / SA product line?
Do you think the current economic and market status will put all upgrades to a standstill? |

| reply to mulligan I'm not much for Comcast and regretted the day when I was forced to go back to them after moving out of a FiOS area so this is really weird saying it but here it goes... Good job Comcast! Most other cable companies have gone to SDV without caring about CC users while from the sounds of it you're actually trying to get these tuning adapters out ASAP. You've gained a little bit of respect from me. |
