windows defender and msconfig

When I first got my new vista, i disabled windows defender, both through the control panel and in msconfig. Now I want it enabled. I enabled it back in control panel and it seems to work, but it is still unchecked in msconfig. I checked in services and applications and it's startup type is automatic. Do i need to check the msconfig box to make sure it starts up when windows starts?

Yes, you do. If you have nothing else disabled in MSCONFIG, simply re-run MSCONFIG, select "Normal Mode" then click "OK". You will be prompted to reboot. If you want a utility to disable non-essential programs (MSCONFIG is really intended more for trouble shooting), StartUpLite would be a good utility to use to do that. You can read about it here:
