Export Netflix ratings

Does anyone know if it's possible to export my ratings from Netflix? My searching turned up very little. I understand most companies like to keep the data to themselves, but wondered if anyone found a way to do this.
Thanks!

I am unaware of any way to export your ratings from the website.
Someone posted a similar question to the Netflix Community website a while back.

You might run this one past CS at 1-888-Netflix, but I'm pretty sure there is no documented way to do this.

The upside is that with the release of the Netflix API to developers, it may be possible.

I slowly began duplicating my Netflix data into a filemaker DB last year in case I dump it. Dates, rating, etc, and a little cross referencing (actors, directors, etc). Links to the trailers, too. After watching nearly 1500 movies it's hard to remember what's what.

I know you can always access your Blockbuster account and see your rental history (not sure on ratings) because I did the trial with them and then dropped out.

You could save the entire page (rental history w/ratings) as it is now by choosing to view your entire history at the bottom of the page (from your account page -> rental history).

As far as importing ... I'll look around and let you know if I find anything.

I wrote a Greasemonkey script (which runs only in Firefox) a while ago and have used it successfully to extract all my ratings just by pressing a button.

Please see the NetFlix Movie Extractor (with IMDB Lookup) home page here: »userscripts.org/scripts/show/32964

It has installation instructions, usage, and known issues.
Hope this helps you!

thanks, but maybe I'm not smart enough to use this tool.
I checked the boxes and clicked start and got this

quote:
id title year mpaa genre rating imdb_id imdb_title
Done.
Processed 1 pages. Added 0 ratings.
Script took 4 seconds.
I did it on my ratings page (I have 1200) and got the same result.
What am I doing wrong?

((same question asked over at »userscripts.org/scripts/show/32964 ))

You must be logged in to use this script!

I'll add that check to a future release.
Let me know if that was the case with you or not.

Hi Haroldo,

Let me rephrase that.

Please make sure that you are signed in. To avoid the browser showing you a local copy of the page, reload the page while holding the Shift key, and then reload the page while holding the Crtl key. This will force the browser to get a fresh copy of the page.

If the page still looks like you're signed in (i.e. you can see your ratings page), try the script without the boxes checked. Is your output different after doing all of this?

If not being signed in was the problem, I'll add a check for that in a future release.

Maarten

P.S. Yes, replying at userscripts.org will make sure I get your message. So if that's ok with you, let's continue our troubleshooting there.

Thanks!
I'll check it tonight.

Maarten

@yahoo.com

After going back and forth since the last comment, we figured out the cause of this problem. To run the script, the "Accept third-party cookies" box in the Firefox->Preferences->Privacy dialog needs to be checked. Without it, the script will not run.

Thanks very much to Haroldo for being patient and providing me with the information that let me figure this out!

In the next version of this script, I'll be sure to make sure the user has this cookie setting enabled. Until I post it, if you find the script doesn't do anything, please make sure (a) you're logged into Netflix, and (b), you are accepting third-party cookies.

You did all the work, all I did was to complain
I think you deserve all the thanks!

How did it work out? It saves the fields/values to a tab-delimited file?

There is a text box on the web page with the data
Copy and paste to Excel
Works fine, although your browser will be frozen for a while

Maarten

@sbcglobal.net

I've posted v1.2 of the script which detects both issues: (a) user not logged in, and (b) user does not have "Accept third-party cookies" setting enabled.

Please upgrade to the new version here: »userscripts.org/scripts/show/32964

We created a service on SaveMyRatings.com to allow you to copy your movie ratings between different websites.

For example you can copy your movie ratings from Netflix to Amazon, Netflix, RottenTomatoes…etc.. Or vis-versa. You can also download a CSV of your ratings.

Check it out: »www.SaveMyRatings.com

It's still in Alpha so bear with us. We'd like to make this a community driven site, any feedback (good and bad) is appreciated. Contact info on the website.
