Re: [modem/router] Westell 6110f wont talk to Linksys WRK54G Wir

John A is correct.
The 6110 is a simple modem, (no internal router).
In windows, access the Command Prompt,
(hit Start > hit run > type cmd > hit enter - if using XP ; hit Start > choose all Programs > choose Accessories >right click the Command Prompt and choose run as Administrator - if using Vista)
and type ipconfig /release
you should see that the IP address listed under Local Area Connection - Ethernet Adaptor is now 0.0.0.0
shut off the modem and connect the Linksys.
power on the modem, wait for solid DSL light, power on the Linksys, then the PC.
the Linksys should pick up the public IP and all should be well.

If you're in an ExGTE area, you need to do an ipconfig /release from the PC before connecting the router. The Public IP is MAC address bound to the NIC in the PC.

Thanks but I don't think that's the problem - Verzion came out and installed the modem so I'm assuming they turned off the walled garden. The modem works fine when connected directly to the computer.

If you just got a brand new modem from verizon, i'm going to guess you need to follow the directions in this link: »Verizon Online DSL FAQ »How to Turn off the Walled Garden

Otherwise, I'll let other more knowledgeable members speak up.
