 Replace Ram?

I was debating putting some faster ram in my laptop, but I think it just default to the FSB speed of the processor. Is that true? I went to crucial and they said that either PC5300 or PC6400 DDR2 Ram would fit. Currently I have a 1GB and a 2GB sticks of RAM from different companies in there.

The motherboard chipset only takes advantage of up to DDR2-667, which is what you have installed.

ya thats what I noticed also. But would it make a difference if the ram was from one company versus 2 different companies?

It makes no difference. Timings and frequency are identical for both modules.
