I have tried Avast and it is exactly NOT what I'm after. (It installed pieces that ran in the background, and was terrible at uninstalling itself. I'm looking at ClamWin--anyone that can verify no background processes and uninstallability [sic] on this one? edit: answer to earlier question: manual scans only
