4 edits | If they could get the $$ back that Verizon STOLE from them!
Verizon got about 200 million from Vonage by suing them for patent infringement-using patents that later were invalidated!
The patents in question were later invalidated because of prior art. It seems that Jeff Pulver published a book called "The VOIP Cookbook"-and years later, Verizon's patent applications almost quoted parts of it word for word!
Who is Jeff Pulver? Just by coincidence, he's the engineer who originally set up Vonage!
It's been explained to me that Verizon can keep that money! Why? If I rob a bank and later get caught, I have to give the money back. What's the difference?
Verizon should be required to give that money back-with interest-and should be required to reimburse Vonage for their legal bills. If they did, Vonage would be fine!
I don't believe that punitive damages would be out of line either...
Instead, big telco gets to rob and murder a pioneering company-with the ENCOURAGEMENT of our Govt!
Tell me-how does Vonage being blatently murdered by big telco benefit any of us?
Where's the justice?
Disclaimer: I have been a satisfied Vonage customer since 2002. |
