 move to gmail sucks

Well,

I'm officially moving all my email to my Apple MobileMe account.

I gave it a shot, but all the little problems I was afraid of have come true and then there is the fact that Google is crawling all my mail. Not cool.

I've kept my email with DSLExtreme because the servers were yours and the mail wasn't crawled through for targeted advertising and other things.

It is unfortunate, but I see this move and the death of DSLExtreme. Now there is one less thing to differentiate the company from other ISPs. And we get even less for our money. I wish it weren't so.

It's a sad day.

I call BS and FUD pandering...

And you think Apple is any less evil than Google ?!?

Replacable batteries in you ipod/iphone/etc ? Nope...

Write an app and sell it for iphone? Not if it competes with some present/future Apple app...

Shoot, look at Nokia's new beta email offering - at first blush, as bad as you're fears of gmail...

If you want safe/secure email, the only place you'll find is in you're own server...

I think its nice that DSLX switched over to Google for email. I've loved using my Gmail for the past couple years and have been amazed at the Spam protection. In those couple years I have not had one false-positive in my Gmail account, which is my now my primary contact email for everything.

well, I just tried to log into my webmail (via the new google interface), and it's terrible... I spent all afternoon trying to sort things out.. I don't want newsfeeds, I don't want "conversations".. I just want to log into my mail account, check for new mail, and that's it... simple mail.. what happened to that?

I can't even figure out how to sort the listed mail via date, sender, etc...

it's so confusing, and I hate google's attempts to take over my desktop.. again, I just want to log into my webmail, check it, and leave!

but looks like I'll have to grin and bear it
