? Best ISP in Montreal?

So the question is.............................Colba.net, Acanac, Cogeco & all ....Who is the best ISP in Montreal?

This is for ISP only, not for your phone.

I've been shopping around and found out they all have something +or-. I mean...One has poor service, another is cheap but is not perfect...So So
So...Do you have One that you could refer to me as you would to your best friend?
Thanks a whole lot
Pete

Since you understand that no ISP is strong at every area of service. Without a criteria as what weights the most, you are in fact pre-empting any suggestion.

I don't live in Canada, generally, BB is hit and miss. Nobody can guarantee happy ending. Craig's list does.

Cogeco doesn't service Montreal, and Colba is one of the worst ISPs on the planet. If those are your only three choices, Acanac is all that's left.

If you're considering others, there are tons of good DSL ISPs. TekSavvy, Velcom, ElectronicBox, etc.

I should be up and running with Colba as of next week, ill post speed results...

they're really not as bad as they used to be a year ago.. in terms of tech support / sales... they actually pick up

Cogeco does service some parts of Montreal, but most of the city is serviced by Videotron. That's what I had when I lived in Montreal. Videotron was alright, but I'd stick with DSL in Montreal.

By sticking with DSL, You mean that regular phone lines are still better than cable?

On the same token...I met with a tech from bell near Mont-Tremblant Quebec, where it is surrounded by forests and mountains. They've installed new towers to receive cell signals lately and the Optic Fiber is almost complete where we don't even can get the cable.

Wonder if the OF will drastically make changes.

I have a friend two blocks away from my home with TekSavvy and he is very happy (I'm not that happy with Acanac, working to solve lag issues affecting VoIP and gaming).

If money is not the main priority (at least during the first year), TekSavvy sounds as one of the best around.

Acanac might be my future ISP.

I've been using Acanac for 20 days now, and I live in Ste-Dorothee (Laval). So far connections speeds has been stable 24/7 and the exact same speed I was getting with Bell (4347/673). I highly recommend Acanac, it's so cheap and no other ISP provide the free extra features.

i'm with Acanac for the last 4 month and an active member of the community forum, I don't have any problem whatsoever with there service, it depends on the distance from the CO and your line, just remember that the special offer is only for the first year, if you pay the whole year with a credit card.

After the year end you will be automaticaly renew on your credit card for the whole year at regular price 33.95$ month plus 8$ a month if you need a dry loop. If after the first year you want to renew on a month to month basic or if you don't want to renew, you should call Acanac and tell them the week before your years is over. So keep track of your billing date if you don't want any surprise at the end of the year. You can find additionnal information in here: »community.acanac.com/Acanac/

I'm using Electronic Box, before I was using AEI which wasn't bad unless you have an issue.

Teksavvy has MLPPP enabled which is something I wish EB would have already :/

OK OK I'll be patient. As long as I get to test.

Just because I bitched about EB in public, just to redeem myself, you should try their VOIP offering*!

Just check out their great reviews

*Does not use VOIP services

lol, funny guy.

On a side note, the digital phone quality is superb for this type of service and i believe price is set right.

Our equipment are located downtown Montreal city and we interconnect thousands of users in the country.

The shasta is the edge router (LNS) that terminate all adsl (GAS/HSA) connections.
