| [Help] Problem after upgrading service from 512/128 to 1024/256
First of, DSL Reports has been my favorite and most important connection troubleshooting destination for more than 3 years and I LOVE it... keep up the good work fellas!!!
I've been using the same ISP for more than 3 years with their 512/128 service. Typical download speeds achieved with this package was 52KB/s (415kbps) downstream and 12KB/s (96kbps) upstream.
I have just upgraded my service to 1024/256 and this is where I'm facing a strange problem as follows: after the upgrade, my typical download speed is STILL 52KB/s (415kbps) downstream with 24KB/s (210kbps) upstream which basically means that my upstream is using the new speed but the downstream is the SAME as the service I had previously (512kbps).
I have checked my modem web configuration utility (US ROBOTICS 9107) and it reads the connection with the new parameters (1024down/256up).
So, I contact "customer care" and they said that, from their side, my connection is utilizing the stated speed (1024kbps) and that I either have a problem with my modem setup or that I have a virus on my pc
I have this same service at my office and typical speeds are 768kbps down and 210kbps up.
Now I don't blame my ISP's customer support as I KNOW for a fact that they're neither properly trained nor experienced to deal with troubleshooting problems that they are not familiar with; but I DO need to get my bandwidth as it costs me $150/month for this service
Below is the result from my modem for my connection stats:
Mode: G.DMT Type: Fast Line coding: Trellis On Status: No Defect Link power state: L0

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to 'steer' their technical support team to try to solve this problem.
