Kunna : First of, DSL Reports has been my favorite and most important connection troubleshooting destination for more than 3 years and I LOVE it... keep up the good work fellas!!!

I've been using the same ISP for more than 3 years with their 512/128 service. Typical download speeds achieved with this package was 52KB/s (415kbps) downstream and 12KB/s (96kbps) upstream.

I have just upgraded my service to 1024/256 and this is where I'm facing a strange problem as follows: after the upgrade, my typical download speed is STILL 52KB/s (415kbps) downstream with 24KB/s (210kbps) upstream which basically means that my upstream is using the new speed but the downstream is the SAME as the service I had previously (512kbps).

I have checked my modem web configuration utility (US ROBOTICS 9107) and it reads the connection with the new parameters (1024down/256up).

So, I contact "customer care" and they said that, from their side, my connection is utilizing the stated speed (1024kbps) and that I either have a problem with my modem setup or that I have a virus on my pc

I have this same service at my office and typical speeds are 768kbps down and 210kbps up.

Now I don't blame my ISP's customer support as I KNOW for a fact that they're neither properly trained nor experienced to deal with troubleshooting problems that they are not familiar with; but I DO need to get my bandwidth as it costs me $150/month for this service :(

Below is the result from my modem for my connection stats:

Mode: G.DMT
Type: Fast
Line coding: Trellis On
Status: No Defect
Link power state: L0

	                        Downstream Upstream
SNR margin (dB): 30.3 31.0
Attenuation (dB): 33.0 20.0
Output power (dBm): 10.4 11.8
Attainable rate (Kbps): 9888 1140
Rate (Kbps): 1024 256
K (number of bytes in DMT frame): 33 9
R (check bytes in RS code word): 0 0
S (RS code word size in DMT): 1 1
D (interleaver depth): 1 1
Delay (msec): 0 0

Super Frames: 167087 167085
Super Frame Errors: 37 8
RS Words: 0 0
RS Correctable Errors: 0 0
RS Uncorrectable Errors: 0 N/A

HEC Errors: 14 2
OCD Errors: 3 6
LCD Errors: 0 2
Total Cells: 6859470 0
Data Cells: 19634 0
Bit Errors: 0 0

Total ES: 7 0
Total SES: 1 0
Total UAS: 14 0

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to 'steer' their technical support team to try to solve this problem.

regards :uhh:
