Well actually HSPA is not GSM, it's WCDMA.

Telstra announced yesterday their HSPA update will be finished by years end. 21Mbps downloads where active now. Lord knows what kind of backhaul is necessary to maintain that with heavy traffic or what the cost will be.

I have to admit the acronyms are very confusing in these next steps of wireless evolution.

Well HSPA is more like GSM than it is CDMA, the only thing it has in common with CDMA is the air interface.
