said by MJimLay :Now THAT is COOL!!! I am going to try this as I am using a Intel Quad processor. I also forwarded this to my uncle which also just got a Dell with a Intel processor. Edit: I guess I spoke too soon, "This update does not apply to your system" Just in case this might be useful for your uncle, here is the original thread on this:
»Intel patch? -- "The same ferocity that our founders devoted to protect the freedom and independence of the press is now appropriate for our defense of the freedom of the internet. The stakes are the same: the survival of our Republic". Al Gore, The Assault on Reason |

If you have never tried both, then down a 30 day trial of each and see which you like best. Or just try the free versions of both. HUH?!? I've used AVG for years and even installed it on PII systems running XP and never had any problems with it. Norton is the hog, not AVG. Plus it's a well known program as well. I never even heard of Avast or Avira Not to hijack the thread here but I've also had problems with AVG. Not only is it slow, it wouldn't allow my Windows Update to install new updates. I dumped AVG and the problems went away. |
