its a brand new 16gb (it got shipped with the new charger), but its getting really hot to the touch, and its really uncomfortable when i am on a call

North Aurora, IL | I have an 8GB, and it only gets a little warm when running apps like games. I would say bring it in to get looked at. Something doesn't sound right about the phone getting that hot. Might be a bad battery? |

my 1st-gen gets hot but i wouldnt say it's uncomfortable to use.. you might want to have the boys at the apple store look at it, and if they say 'that's normal', ask to use one of the store demos to compare it. |

it happens when i use apps and/or the browser
my best estimate is a "occasional" temperature of 38-40 degrees Celsius (100F)
(only applicable on the upper part of the phone/right above the logo/including the logo section, on both sides; i guess that`s where the cpu is located?)
the bottom part is cold as ice on both sides...

Same here. Not hot, but like you said, 35-40C. It doesn't bother me. Its normal. |
