Have you actually been purchasing computers and other electronic gadgets? Equipment gets hardware updates on a regular basis, most people buy when they need equipment and then never look back otherwise everyone would be in a constant state of being pissed at all major vendors because something faster and cheaper is always coming along. Updating the iPhone will happen once a new chipset comes along that increases battery life.

And yes, I own several iPhones.

I read a statistic this week that more SMS/MMS are higher than # calls. I rarely use SMS/MMS, but understand that majority of people have basic phones and therefore SMS/MMS is heavily used.
