Yes i have the icon in the tray.

If i do as you stated i get the the same scan window. in the scan window i can Quick scan, Full scan, Let me chose, and all that i can chose is the whole drive and not files or folder as it dose not go to taht level.

Oh ya, i am runing XP SP3, and it is McAfee AV 2008 Plus.

Do you have McAfee Icon by your clock in lower right of your screen? (I dont have Vista) IF so, right click, select scan, select specifc drives or folders etc. This view only works in "Basic Menu".

I looked at the 2009 version at McAfee dot com and it appears to not change from my 2008 version. I also do not have your latest versions of Security Center (8) or AV Engine (12). We may have some differences in our product.

Well as in the subject, i got McAfee AV 2008.
It come with Security center V9 , AV engine V13, Firewall V10, Site Advisor V2.8.

Now maybe its just me, but i can not seem to find any way to have it not scan a few directories. It found a few files that are text only and it keeps deleting them. It calls them a script, but i know what is in them and it is just removeing them because it is on a list of bad file names or something. One is just a list of words like a dictionary.

Any ways is it just the way McAfee is now or should i get i different version if i want to exclude files or directory and not just whole hard drives.

While i am at it let me know what you thing about the quality of McAfee these days and what you might recommend. I think McAfee is using a lot of memory about 200 to 250 meg, seem like a lot.

I had AVG but then tried Eset trial and it was OK but last week I started to notice that my PC would take seconds to open explorer, and when checking taskman it was Eset that was hoging the CPU. This just started so i install McAfee and it seem to work fine just lacking personal setup features.
