| Greatly improved speed and accuracy with new Drive on EAC
I just wanted to share in case anyone is running an older drive and ripping music CD's with EAC. This is probably obvious to many, but if I had known, I would have replaced my older drive much sooner.
The old drive was 48x CD and I figured it was fine. Ripping with EAC was at 4X or so usually and that was that. It also had trouble with scratchy discs which I didn't think much of that either, they were scuffed..
I got a new Liteon iHAP322 08 from Newegg and holy moly, what a difference. It rips at 48x and isn't getting any errors, even with discs that took all night with the old drive only to find it couldn't copy more than half the tracks.
No errors so far (I will get a really scratched CD from the library to see how that goes) and more than 10x faster to boot.
So don't hesitate to spend the $30.00 if you have an older drive and have speed or accuracy issues. You will be surprised too I bet. |

That explains the huge speed difference. |
