A GOOD SPEAKER PHONE REQUIRES A CORD. Cordless phones act like two way radios so, sure those are crap, when used on speaker. But cordless phones are crap anyway. It is much easier to follow instructions when you can put them on speaker.  Or calling Microsoft about the recent IE patch which borked IE. I was on the phone with the engineer for two hours. Not only would my arm have been stiff and sore after holding a receiver that long to my ear but how would I have followed all the myriad of instructions from the engineer trying to fix it?  I needed both hands free.<br><br>Plus, I am not about to sit and wait for some business to answer. I get put on hold, it is on speaker and I can move about and do other things while I wait.  When I do use the handset though I always pick it up with my left hand and put it to my left ear . How can a left handed person hold it easily to the right ear? It would feel too awkward...like trying to write with my right hand. If I had to write something and did not have a speaker phone, I would hold the phone between my ear and shoulder by scrunching my shoulder up and tilting my head sideways. It seems to happen more when the user stretches the cord to full length. I'm almost obsessive about making sure the cord is not twisting up one way or the other, and will always turn it the other way to keep it completely untwisted.<br><br>BTW, you can check for the slightest amount of twist by holding two distant parts of the cord up together, letting the rest of the cord hang down almost touching itself in a bobby pin kind of shape. Their FAQ: "Are the lengths listed for the coil cords extended or retracted measurements?<br>The lengths listed on the website for coil cords represent the maximum reach of a fully extended cord."<br><br>The shortest cord they sell is 12'. That must be the standard as their FAQ above says that is 12' stretched.<br><br>They're not expensive, but shipping is!  Radio Shack says they have a heavy duty cord that resists tangling - but, I'd try the Softalk cord first (wonder if WalMart sells them - probably not).<br><br>So, as the <u>problem</u> of kinking can not be really identified, a solution is at lease seemingly available - a better memory retention cord!<br><br>Now, why is that a squirrel will run exactly 2/3 of the way across a road, in front of a speeding car, and then turn around and run back instead of completing the last 1/3? It would seem the built up forward momentum of speed would get it across quicker than needing to come to a stop and then reverse direction as the car bares down on it - plus it was most of the way across anyway before it reversed direction. What's with the squirrel's logic? ]]></description>

Of course I set it up to the left  and use my left hand and pick it up to left ear and back again.<br><br>However several people here had to add the little swivel thing to their telephone to keep it from twisting. It is easy to twist if you change hands after picking up, seemed about 50-50 if i twist it trying it that way. (100% twist when changing, depending on how i hang up determines if i reverse twist or not)<br><br>Some people are just more twisted than others it seems  :D]]></description>

But, maybe my 'test' was not a real life test as I was consciously paying close attention to how I picked up the phone and, maybe, when not paying attention, I do pick up with the right hand and transfer it to my left hand - no, I just don't think I do that! <br><br>Still, about once every two weeks I have to untangle the cord! Maybe it's my wife??<br><br>Possibly this will always remain a mystery?<br><br>Still - it seems - pick up with one hand - put it back with the same hand - how can it get tangled???  It does - I just can't figure out how!]]></description>
