Why should anyone have to pay extra because the NFL network wants to be carried on digital tier instead of separate sports tier? |

Why should anyone have to pay extra because the NFL network wants to be carried on digital tier instead of separate sports tier? Should anyone have to pay extra for Verus or Golf Channel? Two channels Comcast carries on basic analog tiers? Oh wait Comcast OWNS those. So it's ok to charge customers extra for those unwanted sports channels.
I don't like Jesus channels, hispanic channels, black channels, women channels, country music channels and yet I pay for those. Somehow this is ok with you.
here are the violations
"The NFL's complaint is essentially two-fold. It told the FCC that Comcast discriminated against the channel by putting it on a premium digital sports tier for which customers must pay, while carrying its own sports channels on the more widely viewed analog-basic tier that costs no extra.
The NFL says Comcast, the nation's largest cable operator, also dropped the network from its digital-basic tier after the league decided not to sell a package of eight regular-season games to Comcast (it decided to keep the games and put them on NFL Network to make that channel more attractive).

It's back to the lowest tier analog basic cable and OTA as soon as my promo runs out. I've got my Vista MediaCenter up and running and I will be glad to ditch the Motorola DVR's. |

 | reply to caco before many of you yell "yea for the NFL and the FCC for slapping it to Comcast" stop and think - isn't this what you have been yelling for all along? How many will think this is great also want to subscribe to only the channels they watch and not everything else in the tier? if this goes through you can basically forget al-a-carte for a loooong time to come.
Also, why would the NFL sign a contract that states the network can be added to the sports tier after a certain number of years and then sue to get it added back to the digital tier? Why? because they saw their actual subscriber numbers drop like a rock to those who actually WANT to watch the NFL network. Lower subscriber numbers = lower advertising rates to be charged = less profit = less money in the NFl executives pockets.
Be careful who you cheer to victoey, the loser will probably end of being YOU - remember the government has its hand in the mix! |

KearnstdElf WizardPremium join:2002-01-22 Mullica Hill, NJ | reply to caco once again proving that Content drives the price of cable. as tech improves they can offer faster internet for the same price. in the 42.95 tier my internet has evolved from 1.5/384 to 6/1 and no price change. yet oddly enough if more channels get added the bill has to follow. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports |

systems2000What? You Say It's Fixed. Hah join:2001-11-29 Cyberspace | reply to bshelly Sports costs still drive the "Basic" tier cost up also. That's why I dumped all Comcast services last year when they did two price increases in 2007. I got tired of increasing rates and decreasing service. |
