[northwest] FIOS TV Gresham/Portland, OR

So I have fios internet and can get the phone too, but I can not get TV yet. From talking with the install guy he said that the city has not agreed yet on the franchise price for verizon, so that they can have tv service in the area.

Does anyone know when the city of gresham will approve for them to sell FIOS tv service in the area?

Best bet is to follow your local City Counsel Council meetings and see when (or will) Verizon applied for the license. I did this for Tigard but once it's approved doesn't mean V. will make it available the next day.

The franchise process has been coming along for awhile. The cities under the mhcrc just need to sign on now. contact the city of gresham and tell them to sign on.

Thanks for the info. I talked with the MHCRC and they said that it should be going to vote for the city councils in November sometime. So I guess I will continue to wait.

I think that Verizon goes before the Gresham City Council on October 21st with their presentation looking for approval. I can't find the link verifying the date and the council's agenda for the 21st is not yet out on Gresham's website. I'd suggest that you keep looking there (www.greshamoregon.gov) for more information.

Mike Rogoway's Silicon Forest blog »blog.oregonlive.com/siliconfores···_on.html is reporting:

"Gresham has put off an Oct. 21 vote on Verizon's cable franchise after the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission approved an oversight regime that Verizon says it can't accept.

Eric Chambers, assistant to Gresham Mayor Shane Bemis, told me this week the city council wants more times to study its options, which might include...

• Accepting the cable commission's recommendation and putting the ball in Verizon's court

• Splitting with the commission's recommendation and negotiating its own terms with Verizon

• Doing nothing at all

Eric said Gresham isn't getting a lot of pressure from residents on the issue, but that the city council hopes to set a direction by year-end."

Just might be time to call the city and let them know your thoughts.

Getting FIOS TV installed on 11/09 in Gresham. I've already had 15/2 internet since it's been available and now can switch from Comcast to Verizon for TV.
