ISDN hooked up, but ....

ISDN line running for about a week now, but for a few minutes after dialing up and connecting, I get a caution icon in my task bar warning I have only limited connectivity.

Using a 3Com ISDN TA 3CP3468 bought off Ebay YEARS ago (yeah, never used it 'til now) so I don't have the CD installer-I'm using only the basic functions Vista is set for. I had to look online to find out about the SPID things and adding the 0101 stuff. Localnet as the ISP.

I have the connection set up to dial (and what a pain that is in Vista...Start/Connect To/Click connection name/Connect (can't find a way to add a shortcut to the desktop) and with the user name and password saved, but when it connects, it just sits there idly for a few minutes before I can surf. The second channel sometimes doesn't kick in for awhile either (it's set for Auto. 2 channel).

Is this normal or have I missed a step somewhere? If you need more info, I'll try my best to provide!

It looks like drivers may be available at

or

Though both indicate that vista has drivers for it, so I doubt that would be an issue.

To create a shortcut in vista you'll need to find the network connections window, which is stupidly annoying to get to in vista (used to just be in control panel in XP)

To immediately open the connection list, you can just type ncpa.cpl into the Start menu search box. From there you should be able to create a shortcut to the desktop for any connections listed. Can't remember off the top of my head if you can just use right click and create shortcut, or if you have to right-click drag to the desktop and pick create shortcut here. But one of those should do it.

As to the dialing "lag", I don't know. I always used a Cisco router to handle dialing and never had problems. Although it was normal for me as well to have one of the channels take a while longer to connect than the other. Maybe localnet can help you out? I've only heard good things about their support.

I've tried the driver download, but it always runs into some kind of an error (can't remember off the top of my head what it was-it was when I was waiting for my line to be ran and I just wanted to go ahead and install the modem). I do appreciate you looking it up though!

I found one way to make a semi-shortcut to the desktop by dragging and dropping the Connect To link from the Start pop-up menu. From there I have to highlight the connection name and click connect. Clicks saved= 1! LOL

Thanks for your help!
