@rogers.com | Question about IP?
Just wondering if anyone could trace back my IP (from surfing a web page) to my name without my ISP actually giving them my name. Or someone just just f@#k'n with me.. Just a Question..... |

| reply to Robrr Robrr has it right - you leave your IP address on any connection you make. BUT based on JUST an IP address they cannot get your name or other personal details, unless they're a law agency and get a court order asking for Rogers to provide it.
For example, if you connect to a page where you enter your name and address, they can associate that with the IP address you had *at the time of that connection*. But, On cable, you do often change IP addresses, so it's not a permanent association. |
