Re: It's not free

I stand by my statement that Cablevision's rates are high.

If you want to say that Verizon FiOS rates are equally high, that's fine by me.

But I stand by my statement that Cablevision's rates are high.

Verizon's FIOS prices are 50% higher then your DSL.

Verizon's DSL prices are 3x the price of NetZero dialup.

Please compare like to like for services if you're comparing prices.

The message conveyed in your email was their specific prices were too high. Their prices seem in line with what I pay for the similar service from a comparable corporation in the same market. So their prices are no higher or lower then their competition. So it's like saying Shell's gas prices are too high when they are the same as Exxon's, Gulf's etc. More appropriately, "gas prices are too high".

But I concur that "included" is more accurate then "free" but that is marketing and not reality.

You may not think Cablevision's rates are high, but I can't afford $45 per month for Internet service. CV's crappy TV service is $50 per month, and that's too high, too.

It's included in Cablevision's high rates.
Same rates for Verizon FIOS. No difference in cost. So I don't think the rates are high, just what the market is willing to pay. Referencing »www22.verizon.com/content/consum···ices.htm the price seems to fall between the 2 FIOS tiers which are slightly lower and higher in speeds.

this free wifi they provide is kind of a nice perk.
"Free" for 50% more than my DSL.
True, DSL I'm sure offers you a bit less speed. None the less, if you don't need that speed, then you're doing better paying less for DSL.

What is CV charging for bundled Optimum Online, these days. I'm not talking about the triple play for the yearly promotional pricing. I mean after that promotional period is over, how much is non-Boost Optimum Online? It's been 3 or 4 years since I had CV, but this free wifi they provide is kind of a nice perk. It popped up as an available wireless network a week or two ago near me.
