Adobe Flash Player 10 ReleasedSecurity Changes: Local save and load Limited full-screen keyboard input Peer-to-peer communication via RTMFP Data can be read from the Clipboard inside a paste event handlerIn Flash Player 9, the system Clipboard could not be read at any time. With Flash Player 10, the new ActionScript 3.0 method Clipboard.generalClipboard.getData() may be used to read the contents of the system Clipboard, but only when it is called from within an event handler processing a flash.events.Event.PASTE event. Setting data on the system clipboard using System.setClipboard() now requires user interaction. This security enhancement helps mitigate potential clipboard attacks, and developers may need to update existing content.

Is Adobe still fixing v9? Or are they forcing us to use v10? |

I would guess that this v10 is the fix. |

It's not a beta, it's a new released version. And it runs fine on Linux (so far). |

Flash V10 is fine be it on Fx or IE and no one is forcing you to upgrade. |

Looks like they changed it during they beta to require glibc 2.4-based Linux distributions (RHEL 4, CentOS 4, Debian 4 are out) for stack-smashing protection. » www.adobe.com/cfusion/we ··· thread=y |

I know you need the security fixes I was just saying no one is forcing you to do anything.
It is the same overall but with updated security. I still run Noscript to block it unless I want the site to use Flash. |

I still run Noscript to block it unless I want the site to use Flash. I recalled there was a nasty security hole with copy and paste. That sounds bad to me. Adobe should had just called this version 9.1. :P I use FlashBlock extension in Firefox and SeaMonkey's Web browsers. |
|
|
I found no need for both flashblock and noscript so I left noscript.
Make sure after you install flash10 to visit the Macromedia Settings Panel site that was linked if you have not down so. |

With most of the Flash upgrades in the last coupla years, we've had issues using Flash in a limited user account (after installing in an admin. account). A firend worked with the development team on the---IIRC---7 update and they ended up having to have users change registry permissions, etc., then came up with more elegant (but still two-step) fixes for later releases. IIRC, Flash 9 upgrade went fine.
So I'm wondering if anyone's seeing any issues, after updating in your admin. account, then using Flash in the user accounts? |

I was talking about it being visually being the same as well as the security updates. Thanks for the extra info from the changelog. Last I read the changelog was during beta at a glance well I ran it with Fx v3.1b1 pre.

OK, maybe I just don't get it, but adding clipboard access and P2P capabilities sound more like new potential vulnerabilities than security advancements to me. Am I missing something? |

Seems to be mostly (although I'm not doubting the security fixes) about competing with Silverlight with feature bloat: Adobe Flash Player 10 has been released. Its release follows a day after its only notable competitor Microsoft Silverlight 2 became available. The latest iteration of Flash is filled with many enhancements including native 3D transformation and animation, custom filters and effects, advanced audio processing and GPU hardware acceleration.
Adobes senior marketing manager in the Platform Business Unit, Tom Barclay, said that the Flash Player 10 is capable of things not possible with Silverlight 2. » www.maximumpc.com/articl ··· rlight_2 |

Do we have to uninstall the previous version? |
|
|
Per: » labs.adobe.com/technolog ··· tes.htmlquote: Please uninstall any versions of Flash Player before updating your installation.

siko, you should uninstall "flash player" before installing a new version of it and you have to use an "uninstaller" from adobe in order to do that.. here is an article about uninstalling "flash player": » kb.adobe.com/selfservice ··· tn_14157 |

After upgrading to Flash 10 I can longer play the videos on the Marketwatch business site. Is anybody else having a problem with Flash 10 and Marketwatch videos? » www.marketwatch.com/ |
