[Connectivity] Does this sound like BS?

Yesterday from work I noticed my internet at home was down. After getting home I see the equipment is fine but any attempt at web browsing only takes me to Comcast's 'new customer' website. So I call support and have my modem's MAC re-added. Somehow it was gone from my account.

This fixed it for about an hour, then the same thing happened.

I call again, wait as the support rep has trouble getting into my account, then finally go through the usual troubleshooting gyrations. Eventually she figures out that I'm one of the customers whose account was somehow messed up when it was transitioned to the new Smartzone email system. I couldn't get a straight answer on whether my modem was still registered or not.

So she set up a service call for tomorrow, and I gathered the tech just has to go through the steps as if I was a new install job. Last time I checked, once there's a cable signal all that entails is MAKING SURE THE MODEM IS REGISTERED.

So, has anyone heard of silliness like this?

It is quarterly event here Las Cruces NM or my cable get disconnect because error line number. What can you expect from company relies on lies and trues distortion. I am hoping the fios gods will come and visits us as soon as possible.

It does sound like this should be able to be corrected without a tech visit. If possible, please send me your account info (moderator_michael@comcast.net) and I will have someone take a look. Alternately, you can register here at BBR (or sign in) and IM the info to me.

sounds like something similer to what I went through earlier in the year

I was changing to a new cable modem and it took them three months

(and when I got through to a person that knew what they were doing some other tech in his office kept undoing it for 5hours)

so ya it can happen it shouldn't but some comcast admins play games with you(total waste of time)

Does Verizon service New Mexico? If you have Embarq, or Qwest as your ILEC, you will never get FiOS.

definitely an issue within the system and not at the home IMO.
