IMG 1.6 Build 06.89 Release Notes

Are the full release notes available anywhere? Anyone have running list of the supposed 200 fixes? Thanks!

I've been trying to get that list for months, it seems to be locked up like it's some top secret formula. I don't know why the fixes are kept a secret. Wouldn't they want us to know what was fixed?
This is what I know (fixes, not new features):

VOD scrolling & latency
clock time fix
no more info bar popping up on SD boxes
cast info back
4 digit last channel recall now works
green line issue

Now should I list the things it broke?

weather widgets don't wrap around anymore
clock display goes out for 2 seconds when you turn off the box
volume bar comes up when turning on the box
Oh and yes, SD quality gone

Mat was the first to note that after the 1.6 conversion in NY and Ma last week, the SD PQ has deteriorated. A number of posters have noted the same thing.

I do not have 1.6 yet, so I cannot verify.

Ugh, not again. I just took a look, and the local SDs still look bad, as do the music channels and their static pictures. But the national SDs that I checked looked OK. Maybe just not a big enough degradation for me to notice right now.

Are you the only one in MA not to have been updated?

So no release notes huh? Maybe if I contact Verizon directly they would give it up? And the SD PQ issue has it's own post devoted to the whole issue.

Since we got FiOS the local SD's have always looked bad due to the lower bandwith being allotted to them.
I believe the max band with the SD's locals can use is 4mpbs.

The music channel video is sent out at a really coarse pixel count (320 x 240 or something close?). I did know exactly what it was but have forgotten since. When I had the freebie Viewsonic HDTV connected directly to the coax, hitting the info button on the remote would show the video format information.

With 1.5, I've only noticed poor SD quality on some channels (WGN is definitely one of them). I remember that it had a coarser pixel count than other channels, e.g. local or most national SD's.

I think we're supposed to get 1.6 overnight here in VHO8 so I will definitely check general SD quality out tomorrow.

Probably, and from what I have read, lucky me.

Actually, I am involved in the Media Center video streaming Beta trial and there was a block on my account. It should have been removed for the update, but wasn't, so I did not receive the update, and haven't yet. Not a big deal, nothing in 1.6 that I was screaming for!!!

The VOD operation is FAR faster with this update. No more pauses while things load. And when you open up a folder, you can simply move right, ie. you don't have to press Enter to open up a folder underneath, eg. HBO/Series/Sopranos.

I did a direct screen cap of a Music Choice and Urge channel.

Music Choice was 704X480 while Urge was 352X480.
That would explain why Urge looks worse then Music Choice.

Urge doesn't look bad on the SD boxes though, only the HD ones

Yeah, now look at it with a QIP6200 HD box.
At least you can READ the text on the Urge channel.

I knew the SD channels looked even more degraded with 1.6 when I got it a couple months ago, and that my eyes weren't just deceiving me!
(heh.. haven't been on the boards in a while)
