Just the cost of doing business

Stuff like that goes on all the time. It would be stupid not to do it and make any senator angry. They have the power to make a company's situation a lot more difficult. When I used to work at a pizza place in a small college town, our boss made us drive miles way out of our delivery area to deliver pizza to the local university's president. He also got a big 75% discount, but everytime there was a football or basketball game the university ordered over 500 pizzas. When someone has clout they get favors, that's just life. I've done things for pretty girls that I would never do for an ugly chick, so have some of you.

It doesn't make it right.

That would be abuse of power to take a personal issue out on someone, or some company. Plain and simple.. they go to jail all the time for doing that.. or, lose seats when that kind of behavior comes to light.

This situation is not a "favor" per say.. it's good business. The university orders 500 pizzas.. as a business, that's a smart move. Government is the public troff. Besides, maybe your boss wasn't smart. For a 500 pizza order, I'd have given him a 100% discount for his alleged 500 pizza orders. (That must have been one hell of an oven you guys had to cook 500 pizzas in that short period of time.

And again, how does an elected official compare to private industry? and personal matters? Does government do this all the time? Yes.. but it's not right... never has been.
