Re: DSLR tool to check version of Java installs ! So this update is not even required ? The vulnerability was in the auto update feature ? So anyone running java 6 update 7 can just disable the auto update feature & all is well? lol . |

 | There is no "vulnerability" in the auto update feature. Some people complained that auto update does not remove old versions of Java, leaving previous vulnerable versions on your machine and you have to manually uninstall them.
If you are troubled by the Vista protected mode issue, upgrading to Java 6u10 may solve your problem. |

Re: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 10 - October 16, 200 I too had a problem running an applet after installing version 6u10. The problem was in the Next generation plugin. This can be disabled in the Java control Panel.
Click start -> control panel -> Java. Click the Advanced tab then open the Java Plug-in section and un-tick the Enable the next-generation Plug-in checkbox. The browser needs to be restarted for the change to take affect. |
