I do not know the current situation on access to portables, however when I was in the coporate world 10 years ago, all you had to do was tell Airtouch(Verizon) and Sprint what you were doing and they had portable towers setup for the event. I have always had the best service overall from Verizon (most expensive) and fairly good service from Sprint. I never carried any of the others for very long so cannot comment.
