[VA] conection monitor/logger

hello... I am looking for a way to monitor my internet connection. I have been experiencing numerous and intermitant connectivity failures. the modem logs are full of T3 timeout errors. called cox support and they can "see me" fine and nothing is wrong. when i check the modem signal levels all is normal as i see on these forums but cant connect. wait a few minutes and all is ok. driving me crazy!!! I looking to see if i can have something record the times the connection is lost. maybe I can see a pattern.the modem logs dont seem to be real time as the times are all over the place and the date always shows as 1970!
the modem is a few months old and it does this with and without my router in the loop.

help

john

@cox.net
Not too far from you, and I've been seeing bad connectivity in the evenings for the last couple weeks.

Starting to feel an awfully lot like that upstream router that was bad from a couple years back.

Did a line test and noticed a bad hop at "nrfkdsrj01-ge610.rd.hr.cox.net". Looked through the other cox.net test after mine completed and noticed others from this area that went through it also has some dropouts and higher than average pings.

would a bad hop cause the "line to go dead" for a few minutes up to 30 at a time then return fine? most of the dropouts are noticed during the day/morning as my wife's job is very internet intensive.

I don't know what the temperature is like in VA, but here in AZ heat can cause intermittent connection issues. Is it possibly a temperature-related issue?

If you could PM me the cable modem's MAC address I'd be happy to look into this for you.
