Re: bt wholesale contact, slow speed

You have a very good Sync Rate confirming a short line.

Your user profile is to low, if the line is left connected the profile should rise over the next 48hrs.

If it dosn't then it looks like you have a stuck profile.

I don't know who is responsible for that either Orange or BT.

As for your tasting the line and saying it's only capable of 2meg that's wrong. All they do is check the line and whatever the speed is they will say that's all it can do. It lets them off the hook and they don't have to do anything.

My speed was 2.4meg and dropped to 1.9meg I rang BT and they said my line was only capable of 2meg even though they said I would get 2.7meg when I joined.

A year later my speed was down to 1.3meg again I called BT and guess what my line was only capable of 1meg.

I rewired all the internal phones and and removed the bell wire and my speed went upto 4.7meg.

Someone please help....

I recently moved into a new house, reconnected the phone and signed up to orange broadband (i had to get the previous isp's tags removed from the line) the previous tenants told me they had 6.5 + speed broadband so i signed up and when bt wholesale did the line check they decided my line was only capable of handling a 2.2mb connection...

surly this is a mistake as the phone line is about 2 yrs old and i live just under a 100yrds away from my local exchange! i spoke to orange about it and according to them they cant do anything about it as bt wholesale say that a 2 mb connection is reasonable even tho they gave the last tenants 6.5+!! and my neighbours also receive 6.5+ speeds.

here are the tests from speedtester.bt.co.uk

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1855 kbps

If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.

if anyone has any way to get hold of bt wholesale to get a re test or any ideas on the matter would be muchly appreciated, also i had 2 line test both came back fine.

thanks alot
