Re: [Internet] wireless question

upstairs, they have their own ISP. But I want my own from my previous home. I was with Sympatico when I was in Ontario, and still have an account with them.

first I plugged the router/modem to my computer to set it up to PPPOE connection. I had to put 4 or 5 sets of numbers if I remnember right. I wrote down the Encryption number. then I plugged in the router/modem to phone line upstairs. Went downstairs and my computer automaticly found a wireless connection. I put in the encryption number and was able to connect to router, but not internet. You would think I would still need my sympatico ID and password, so I be connected to my sympatico and not MTS.

I just moved to Winnipeg from Ontario.
1st off as far as I know Sympatico doesn't offer service in Manitoba.

With DSL you need a 'DSL line card' on the phone line you're connecting the modem to. You can't just plug the modem into any phone line and expect it to work.

Cancel your Sympatico account in Ont. and send back their wireless 2Wire router DSL modem as they don't sell their equipment. Then sign up for an ISP that's available in Manitoba.

He he he...you are right Mordin. Makes me laugh when I realize what he was actually saying. I missed that. I think with all the answers he may have realized what he was asking was pretty well an impossible scenario. Manitoba has another telco, so he will have to search for an ISP out there. Thanks for clarifying Mordin...sometimes we can't see the "wood" for the "trees".
