thats what happens when big companies are invovled.
they throw a lil cash towards the CRTC, and CRTC smiles and does anything.
A website or some sort of campaing of the incompentence of the crtc needs to be made and public. |

I've got a bad feeling in my gut about all of this! 
Bell's been doing some very silly things of late.... I'd hate to see the CRTC look as though they've been bought!
Had a couple recent events of late where I've found out some of our LAN connections, which were 100Meg Fibre connections were being fed by T3s! Tell me this is right.... The CRTC has an obligation to keep the monopolize, they've given sole rights to areas to, honest, and right now, if anything, it's looking like the CRTC is becoming a safe haven for doing wrong things.
High-jacking our Data would have automatically been an RCMP issue, but because it's a regulated service, oh, we have to stop and let due process take place..... How backward is that!?
Arggg....

Well could be good news. I mean if they're so on the bell side why not just do a ruling now and be done with it? Also why look into throttling after this is over if they're going to say it's ok?
Face it the CRTC is part of government they do everything slow. |

I got a good feeling about this, probably they have a resolution but what they need more time is in the implementation. Do we slap Bell now, and start the whole slow process again for the others (ie. Rogers) or do we make a policy decision to get Bell off the hooks now, to only slap them later with the rest of the Throttlers. My un-educated guess, either way a few weeks doesn't change the entire picture.
Now for our side we have to ask ourselves; is the limited scope of the CRTC ruling in our favour. Did Bell violate the Telecommunications Act? I believe they did, but it somehow remains still in a cloud of ambiguity. If we are confident they broke this law its a no brainer what the outcome is. Lets make a list of rules Bell broke to bring about Throttling so as to get our confidence up:
1) They did not notify about a network change. |

If the CRTC was being straight-up bought over this situation, they would have kicked the CAIP application to the curb already and be done with it. The fact that they're taking a bit longer means they seem to actually be considering it. |

If the buck stops at the CRTC and they can't be objective and provide honest rulings........ I don't know man. Feels to me like they're working on giving thought on wording an unpopular response... I mean... It's not like it was a case of a couple in favour of Bell and multi-hundreds in favour of CAIP or anything! I'm normally pretty good at smelling out bad situations and something stinks right now............
If my gut is right, I think some serious thought will have to be placed by we the Canadians on what Mr Geist and company has been advocating about.

So many people spoke out against this that they have to find a way to word the "go screw yourself" answer carefully.
On the flip side, if I'm wrong, they then have to plan what comes next with the likely appeal from Bell.

If you look at the direction of Sandvine Corporation a day or two before the ruling it will tell you what the decision is going to be. I know rogers uses sandvine and bell doesn't but this decision will also affect rogers big time. In America they imprison you for giving out inside information. In Canada it's the "in" thing and no one could care less. The share price will drop to 10 cents or jump to two dollars or jump 250 percent the day of the ruling (if it's a business day during trading hours). |

Seriously this is getting ridiculous...
On another note, this generates more news and more news about it right now, especially seeing as Bill C-61 is also in highlights means more exposure and more exposure brings out more people with opinions... that in turn can bring more opposition to the whole thing... one can only hope.
EDIT:
I was thinking, if bell was to lose this, wouldn't it just force them to actually "upgrade" more instead of laying back while controlling the flow of traffic? right?
If the government wants more competitive internet in Canada, they really shouldn't allow this to go on... it will jump back in their face... expecially when they start seeing how canada is stuck at max 10M everywhere because the flow can be "controlled"... and every other country rolls out above 50M.... We'll look like the lowest in internet technology capable country in no time... |

Rocky wouldn't a stronger set of 3rd parties strengthen the CRTC's mandate? Personally I think they have a clusterfuck of a position, more of a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. But the end result is to promote open competition, and throttling stifles this.
Onto the list.
2) Network is intentionally degraded by Bell, there is no congestion, only a skewed metrics used by Bell that doesn't work to standard, and reflect reality. ie. It's like Bell's definition of congested is a line 60% used. |
